UPDATE: Tina Peters’ “Remorse” Miracle: Fake It ‘Til You Make It Out of Prison
And Don’t Forget Lauren Boebert’s Role in This Grift-Fueled Circus
We’ve been dragging Tina Peters through the mud since day one, calling out her election-denying scam, the Mesa County voting-system breach she orchestrated, the taxpayer money she torched, and the way she’s turned herself into a fake martyr for the MAGA grievance machine. If you want the full dossier, scroll our archives here. We don’t pull punches.
The Sudden “Remorse” Flip-Flop
Now, and quite miraculously, her attorney John Case hits KHOW-AM radio claiming Tina “of course” has remorse.
“Second thoughts,” “regrets not making a different decision,” blah blah blah.
This comes days after Gov. Jared Polis went on 9NEWS and laid down the law:
Show real contrition and apologize, or no clemency.
Polis has commuted 25 sentences in eight years. Every single one required genuine remorse and accountability. Peters? She’s spent years screaming she’s a political prisoner, a scapegoat covering for supposed “crimes” by Phil Weiser, Jena Griswold, and the entire Colorado Democratic establishment. Zero apology. Zero ownership. Just pure conspiracy theater.
Trump’s Extortion Campaign + Polis’s Cave
Enter Donald Trump, who’s been using Colorado as his personal piñata:
- Yanking military facilities
- Pulling science labs
- Denying disaster aid
- Vetoing clean drinking water projects
- Threatening even more federal funding cuts
All to force Polis to spring Tina Peters.
Polis is now hinting he might actually do it, commute her sentence (not a full pardon), if she mouths the magic remorse words. Even her own lawyer won’t commit to her being sorry for the actual crime—just some vague “second thoughts” while still insisting she’s a martyr locked up to hide other people’s supposed misdeeds.
This is textbook performative remorse. Fake it ’til you make it out of prison. Polis knows she isn’t sorry. He’s dangling freedom anyway because Trump’s threats are working. It’s political extortion dressed up as mercy, and it spits in the face of every honest election official in the state.
Lauren Boebert: The Perfect Sidekick in the Grift
And let’s not let Lauren Boebert skate by in this mess.
We’ve raked her over the coals at American Muckrakers too, called her the carpetbagging, spotlight-chasing lightweight, Beetlejuice moron who never belonged in Congress and still doesn’t.
Boebert encouraged Peters’s scheme back when it was happening (Peters herself said so on the record). Then she praised the DA when charges were filed, which pissed off the MAGA base. Now she’s retweeting “Free Tina!” while Trump uses her own state as leverage.
She’s flip-flopped, flip-flopped again, and always lands wherever the cameras are brightest. Boebert helped fan these flames from the start. Now the whole state is paying the price for her and Peters’s shared delusion.
Bottom Line: This Isn’t Justice
Peters doesn’t deserve early release. She deserves to serve until—if ever—she learns real accountability.
Polis, if you’re reading this: Don’t do it. Don’t let Trump bully you into commuting a felon who attacked our elections just to score political points.
