Trump’s Marine Stunt in L.A.? Let Him Own the Fallout.
Let him keep digging his hole deeper. What power do we have anyway?
I’m watching friends, supporters, and well-meaning activists unleash their fury over Trump’s plan to send Marines to Los Angeles. The outrage is real—disgust, fear, righteous indignation. But here’s my take: let’s welcome it. Praise Trump for it. Make him own it.
My dad was a Marine. These men and women live by honor. They’re not going to roll into L.A. and start wrecking the place or shooting people. They’ll show up, look tough, scare some people, and stand down in a week or two. That’s it.
I hear you shouting, “David, this is illegal! He’s breaking the rules!” No shit. That’s his MO. Trump’s gonna do it anyway. So what’s our move? Let it play out. Don’t give him ammo to scream, “See? These people are out of control!”
This stunt will backfire. Remember Rick Wilson’s golden rule: “Everything Trump Touches Dies” (ETTD). Trump and his crew will botch this so badly it’ll become a bigger headache for him. Even his supporters will start to flinch.
Yes, we’re all pissed. It’s unconstitutional, unethical, and against everything we stand for. But right now, we’re out of power and out of options. Trump’s attitude has always been, “I get what I want, or I burn it all down and blame you.” So let him have his moment—unless a judge or the people’s power can stop him. He’ll overreach, create chaos, and it’ll come crashing down. Midterms are coming in November 2026. The adults will take back the House.
Enough with the “but Trump will…” panic. He may, but he probably won’t. The time and energy many alarmists expend is helping Trump. Don’t fight things he has the power to do unless there’s a way to actually stop him, slow him, or humiliate him. In this Marines in L.A. scenario, I see no win for trying to outmaneuver 700 Marines and 2,000 National Guards on duty. What are we going to do that will stop it? Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass are on this. We’ve also got plenty of adults in positions of power in California who won’t stand for any nonsense, and that includes Republicans. Let them handle this for now. They’ll sound the alarm, and then we can all panic together. (That’s a joke.)
I’m no optimist. I’m as cynical about politicians as they come. But Trump’s playbook is predictable: blame Democrats, fake a crisis, blame Democrats, make a mess, blame Democrats, “fix” it, blame Democrats, declare victory. Each “win” loses more steam. He’s a pig who’ll eventually be devoured by his own enablers and enemies.
So, chill for a bit. Skip the doomsayers. I’m not saying don’t care, don’t monitor, or don’t voice your opinion. Just don’t make more of this than it is right now. Watch something fun.
My kids and I love Meatballs with Bill Murray. We quote the goofy lines and sing the silly songs.
Listen, if I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to sound the alarm. But we’re nowhere near panic mode, folks. Not yet.
I kind of agree with everything you say, but I'm not sure about the panic mode. Trump and his minions have no regard for human life. They want to kill Americans. Malcolm Nance wrote a book about this — it's the title.
