While Western North Carolina dug out from Hurricane Helene, our congressman was booking rooms at the Bellagio, cancelling constituent town halls for dinner dates, and offering, in writing, to skip votes in the House of Representatives so he could mow a young staffer’s lawn and decorate her Christmas tree.
That is not a characterization. That is what the documents say.
American Muckrakers has reviewed the text messages Rep. Chuck Edwards produced to the U.S. House Committee on Ethics. His own words, spanning two years and two 20-something female staffers:
The House Ethics Committee has now found Edwards violated the House Code of Official Conduct and recommended the full House CENSURE him. We publish the screenshots, the full timeline, and the case for why censure is not enough. Chuck Edwards must resign.

It speaks volumes that the GOP will not remove him. They obviously care more about keeping his vote than they do about the family values they profess.
During the government shutdown, Chuck was still being paid and was on a plane with his wife to vacation in Las Vegas while the air traffic controllers keeping him safe weren’t being paid. I walked back from seat to confront him about this and he mumbled “I’m not being paid”. Liar liar pants on fire.
