Five days ago I filed a sworn ethics complaint against Rep. Lauren Boebert, built on House payroll records, FEC filings, court records, and written statements from named sources with direct knowledge. I signed it under penalty of perjury because I believe every allegation in it deserves investigation by the proper body.
Her response was not to address the records. It was to attack the messenger, the process and the press.
Her office published official press releases, on your taxpayer-funded house.gov website, accusing me of “likely” committing perjury and calling my sworn filing “his lies.” She attributed to CNN a finding CNN never made. She called the complaint “a scam.” And she claimed she has had a restraining order against me since 2022.
Here is what the court record actually says: Boebert sought a protection order in June 2022. It was never served on me. On July 20, 2022, a Garfield County judge dismissed the case and denied any permanent order, at a hearing neither Boebert nor her lawyer bothered to attend. No order against me was ever in effect. That is not my characterization. That is the public court docket.
Then it got stranger. Within 48 hours, one of the two press releases quietly vanished from her office’s press page. Its web address now redirects to the other release, which was itself edited after publication. We caught all of it, because the Internet Archive preserved the original before they touched it. The perjury accusation against me, notably, stayed up.
So today I served Rep. Boebert, her chief of staff, and her entire staff with a formal cease and desist and retraction demand. The full letter, with all 69 pages of exhibits, is attached below. Read it. It walks through each false statement, side by side with the document that disproves it: the court record on the restraining order, the CNN article that contains no such finding, the Internet Archive captures of what her office published and then altered. Under North Carolina law, she now has ten days to publish a full and fair correction. Every recipient is under a litigation hold covering every draft, email, and edit log, including the ones documenting what her office changed after publication. Tomorrow I file the amended complaint as a public submission.
Let me be clear about one thing, because her office will spin it: I have not retracted anything. I narrowed the complaint to its core, the payments and conduct the government’s own records document, as an editorial judgment. I stand by my reporting and I stand by my sources.
I have done this before. When we investigated Madison Cawthorn, they said we were lying too, right up until he lost. Boebert’s team is running the same play: deny everything, smear the reporter, hope it fades. It will not fade. More sources have come forward since the filing, with new allegations and receipts. We’ll publish them here first.

But here is the honest part: this is heading toward a legal fight, and legal fights cost money. Court records, certified documents, filing fees, and, when the time comes, lawyers. She has a taxpayer-funded press operation and campaign consultants. I have you. I need your support now, not later.
